World of Warcraft Reveals The War Within Patch 11.2.5 Turbo-Boost Details

World of Warcraft is starting another Turbo-Boost event for The War Within Season 3 in Patch 11.2.5 that will speed up the gearing process, improve rewards from dungeons and Delves, make Valorstones account-wide, and more. The second of its kind, the next World of Warcraft Turbo-Boost event kicks off on October 21.

The Turbo-Boost was a World of Warcraft: The War Within event first introduced partway through Season 2 that sped up endgame progression. Massive improvements to gear rewards, expanded upgrade tracks, and removed restrictions on gear currencies were just some of the benefits implemented in this update.

WoW: The War Within Season 3 Turbo-Boost Starts October 21

Now, the Turbo-Boost is coming back for a second round for The War Within Season 3. Starting October 21, fans will be able to pick up a new weekly quest in Dornogal to earn Puzzling Cartel Chips by defeating Normal or harder raids, which can then be exchanged for weapons, trinkets, and cantrip items from Season 3 dungeons and raids. Characters can get up to nine chips – good for three pieces of gear – with three awarded the first time, and one on subsequent weeks. Additionally, Mythic+ dungeons and Tier 9+ Delves will drop more gear, Delves will provide more Delver’s Journey progress, the cap on Crests will be lifted, Ethereal Voidsplinters will drop from most endgame content, and the Valorstones upgrade currency in World of Warcraft will be tradeable between characters.

  • October 7
    • Hero and Myth upgrade tracks expanded from 6 to 8
    • Crafted items can be recrafted with an Augmentation Matrix
  • October 21
    • Puzzling Cartel Chip quest
      • Defeat four Normal+ raid bosses to earn one Puzzling Cartel Chip (max nine per character, three on the first week)
      • Exchange three Puzzling Cartel Chips for weapons, trinkets, and cantrip items
      • Hero gear requires the dungeon or raid boss who drops the item to have been defeated on Normal+ difficulty
      • Myth gear requires players to time all dungeons at Mythic 12 or to have defeated the Mythic raid boss
    • Crests cap lifted
    • Valorstones become Warbound
    • Warband until Equipped gear drops twice as often from Mythic+ dungeons
    • Ethereal Voidspliters drop from Mythic+ dungeons, Manaforge: Omega, Delves, and rated PvP
    • More Delver’s Journey progress
    • Untainted Mana-Crystals drop in Tier 9+ Bountiful Delves, exchangeable for Hero trinkets
    • Gear crafted with Sparks of Fortune can be improved with an Augmentation Matrix

However, players won’t have to wait until the 21st to start benefiting from the Turbo-Boost. Starting on October 7 with the release of World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.5, Hero and Myth gear will have their upgrade tracks expanded to have eight tiers instead of six, and crafted items can be recraftable with an Augmentation Matrix to gain extra power.

The Patch 11.2.5 Turbo-Boost is set to last for the remainder of Season 3. Since there is no Season 4 currently planned for The War Within, this means fans will ostensibly be able to enjoy these benefits until the release of World of Warcraft: Midnight next year.

It is worthwhile to note that this is the second Turbo-Boost World of Warcraft has done, which could indicate it might become a new pattern. It remains to be seen if there are Turbo-Boosts around the halfway mark for each season going forward, but it would not be surprising to see the event return in Midnight.
